Mexican tech specialists head to Peru for Seedstars LATAM Summit

By December 5, 2018

Seedstars World, the largest startup competition for emerging markets around the world has searched far and wide to locate Latin America’s most exciting tech specialists.

It is the fifth year that the organisation has scoured the globe for the most sought-after entrepreneurial developments before the gatherings descend on regional summits to celebrate startup innovation in all its forms.

The organisation behind the event has hit the ground running in Lima, Peru where yesterday the third edition of the Seedstars LATAM Summit came underway.

Taking place at the University of Engineering and Technology, startup specialists from Mexico will be among the chosen twelve representatives who will be descending on Lima from Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Brazil, Chile, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and, of course, Peru.

Today’s gathering of winners is geared at bringing together technology and entrepreneurial specialists, impacting investment opportunities whilst also using the three days to discuss Latin America’s contribution to sustainable development goals.

The meaningful discussions by CEOs and representatives of startups in AI, e-commerce, health and even agritech will focus on producing worthy outcomes that can then be implemented across Latin America.

“For the past six months we have made LATAM our home and went on an interesting journey deep into 12 startup scenes in the region, not only scouting for the best tech entrepreneurs but working directly with them and other passionate ecosystem builders,” said Juliane Butty, Regional Manager for LATAM at Seedstars.

Among the specialists, Getabed is the startup to watch from Mexico. The finalist took part alongside the other countries in a Seedstars Growth Bootcamp yesterday to celebrate the kick off of the event, before embarking on a series of training experiences and workshops to boost business models and growth strategy.

Based in Guadalajara, Getabed is an online platform that helps clients sell their services, such as hotel rooms and suites, without having to use independent booking platforms. It allows locations to increase direct reservations and reduce the costs spent in using third-party sites.

Today at the event, the SeedStars attendees will head to an Investor Forum, where they will all have the opportunity to pitch to the region’s leading investors. It forms part of a cram-packed three days that celebrate the ever-growing potential of Latin America.
